There are material benefits such as being able to find similar products and food that you are used to as well as easier access to communications and better medical treatment, but nowadays most developing countries offer similar lifestyles, especially in the bigger cities. In a rural setting, access to goods that you are accustomed to as well as lifestyle challenges such as having washers and dryers might be more of an issue.
