Question
Being from Hawaii rather than the mainland, were you treated any differently? How did people view and accept you?

AshleyJunior Year StudentLoyola Marymount UniversityIf anything, people loved the fact that I was from Hawaii. There aren’t too many Hawaiian folk in Europe, so most people there don’t really know much about Hawaii, unless they have visited (which is quite rare). Their views of Hawaiian people are very stereotypical so I feel as though I cleared up the normal stereotype of simply surfing and hula skirts and made some of them realize that Hawaii was more than that.
