AshleyJunior Year StudentLoyola Marymount UniversityMany different cultures inhabit the state of Hawaii. I have grown up in the midst of so many diverse ethnicities and cultures. This has enriched my life by enabling me to be exposed to a vast array of people, food, religions, etc. My schools were never really dominated with one particular race, but are completely mixed. Since I am accustomed to living within a diverse group of people, going abroad was not a drastic change, but simply another opportunity for me to learn more about the people of the world and to embrace their culture and values. I was excited to be able to openly grasp the culture and adapt to the differing people that were locals to the countries I visited.
